Paperwork or Paperless     Work less with TraCS

TraCS (Traffic and Criminal Software) is by far the best and most robust public safety data collection software on the market.  TraCS is a suite of tools that provides officers with all of the functionality needed to record and retrieve incident information wherever and whenever an incident occurs.

Officers respond to many incidents every day and each incident requires paperwork and other administrative duties that take away from valuable patrol time. The TraCS software was developed in response to the need for a well-designed information management tool for field officers that simplifies the data collection process and eases the administrative burden on officers. What most records management systems do poorly or not at all, TraCS handles in an intuitive, elegant way that makes data entry fast, easy and accurate.

TraCS consists of two related applications, TraCS Mobile and TraCS Office.

TraCS Mobile delivers a mobile desktop that an officer can use to fulfill all administrative duties electronically while remaining in the vehicle. With fewer resources available it is more important than ever to make officers more efficient and keep them in the field and out of the office as much as possible.

Use TraCS Mobile in conjunction with TraCS Office or use it as the front end to your existing records management system.  Either way, the timeliness, quality and completeness of the data collected will amaze you.

TraCS Office consists of all of the same features as TraCS Mobile and also offers a forms management platform to allow administrative staff to organize, process, evaluate, and query the records collected.  TraCS Office applies your existing paper flow to the electronic records in its entirety from receipt from the officer in the field the whole way through to the state and federal stakeholders that mandate the collection of the information.

TraCS Standard Features

The following list contains just some of the features that come standard with TraCS.

Meets or exceeds FBI and CJIS security and encryption standards.

Familiar updated look and feel of other new and popular Windows based applications.

  Streamlined interface and navigation.

Form Viewer for viewing and editing forms.

Sophisticated Databar for entering field values.

Forms Manager for searching and organizing case folders.

Print Manager for report printing plus public releases and standardized letters.

Flexible data edits and validations to ensure the data collected is correct and complete.
Users receive immediate feedback regarding incorrect data and are prompted to correct
any errors. Validations can be executed online during data entry or in batch after data
     entry has been completed.

Interfaces with most 2D barcode readers to read AAMVA PDF417 barcode data from driver
licenses, vehicle registrations, and commercial CAB cards directly into a TraCS form.

Interfaces with magnetic stripe readers to read AAMVA magnetic stripes from driver
licenses directly into a TraCS form.

Two built-in diagramming tools and an interface to commercially available diagramming
tools such as Easy Street Draw, Scene PD, Microsoft Visio, and Quick Scene.

Image and signature capturing using barcode imagers, digital cameras or camcorders,
page scanners, signature tablets, and touch screens.

Attach any type of file to any form including video, audio, digital photos, witness
     statements, etc.

Customize process/business flow so the software conforms to the way you already do
business.  Not the other way around.

Modular plug-and-play component based architecture easily allows you to add addtional
peripheral devices such as fingerprint readers.

Share data collected with other systems you might already have in place.

External information interface to share data with other external sources including wireless
MDC clients, state databases, and third party applications.  The external information
interface allows an agency to create any number of DLL files that can be linked into the
TraCS application and used as data conduits between TraCS and other applications.

Built-in 3-tier customizable user and data security.

Transmit data to state and federal agencies automatically in any format necessary
     including GJXML, NEIM, and NDEx.

Database independence (The TraCS Databases can use Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL
Server, Oracle, or a combination of the three.)

Works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, and
     Windows Server 2008
(both 32 and 64 bit versions supported.)

    TraCS Web

TraCS Web is a browser based version of TraCS and has the same look and feel as TraCS.  No client preloaded software is needed on the computer running TraCS Web except for Microsoft Windows XP SP3 or above, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and the latest version of the Microsoft .NET Framework.  TraCS Web functionality is similar to TraCS where possible and includes on-demand downloadable applets to interface with peripherals connected to the computer such as barcode imagers and signature tablets.

    TraCS SDK

The Software Development Kit enhances the functionality of TraCS by enabling agencies to design, build, implement and modify forms, reports, data validation rules, process flow rules, and autopopulate rules to be used within the TraCS framework

The SDK consists of three major tools – the Forms Builder, the Rules Builder, and the Database Builder.  These tools enable an agency to completely design and build custom forms and reports and fully integrate them into TraCS.  Each of the tools is defined below.

Forms Builder - Used to create forms and reports.

Rules Builder - Used to create Validation, Process Flow, and Autopopulate rules that determine how the user interacts with forms and reports.

Database Builder - Used to build underlying database tables for form data storage.

The TraCS solution provides the foundation from which an agency can build a data collection tool based upon their unique needs and requirements. TraCS does not restrict the agency by conforming to a pre-packaged software application or communications method. TraCS users have received national awards and media recognition for their rapid and successful deployment of incident reporting based on this reusable toolkit.
